Others present: Bill McLoughlin, Rob Tee The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Coffey at 3 p.m. Crime Free Rental Housing update McLoughlin and Tee spoke of the recent Crime Free Rental Housing training that was • offered by the Yakima Police Department. They were impressed with the organization, the participation by employees, and the State representatives that were part of the program. Another program is anticipated in the spring. They expressed the need for the CFRH to continue. They also expressed the desire of the Yakima Valley Landlords Association to fill the vacant police officer positions. II. GFI update Copeland updated that the Steering Committee is moving from the study to the action phase. GFI continues to look for funding sources, and is currently seeking out an Americorps grant. Steve Magellan is continuing to work with the committee. III. Regional Fire Authority Willson reported that the feasibility study will be starting November 17 & 18. The consultants will be visiting the area agencies. Willson also expressed his satisfaction with the EMS levy passage with 78% approval by the voters. IV. Other Business The committee briefly discussed the articles in the packet regarding red light traffic cameras and continued to express that the only reason to continue discussing this matter is for public safety and not as a revenue source. • _. w....,- ... � :; ,z,.v +l„nwx.... ,. e � ° r,Y1 .+ash= . w...,� *:0„:To • .,..,.,,.. Coffey discussed the preliminary 2012 budget and the anticipated inability to fill positions within the police and fire departments. She advised that there would be a public hearing on November 29 to discuss increasing utility fees.
