AGENDA STATEMENT - REVISION
Item No. 7
For Meeting of: October 18, 2011
ITEM TITLE: Recommendation from Council North First Street Ad Hoc Committee to accept
the North First Street Corridor Revitalization Project Planning Grant final report /
brochure.
SUBMITTED BY: Michael Morales, Assistant City Manager
CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: Michael Morales, 575 -6040
SUMMARY EXPLANATION: In 2010, the City received a SIED planning grant in the amount of
$25,000 to begin a community mobilization and visioning process to determine options for
infrastructure and public facilities related to North First Street, and also to develop illustrations
and cost estimates for recommended improvements.
Project consultants Jeffrey Louman (Huibregtse, Louman Associates) and Colie Hough -Beck
(HBB Landscape Architecture) worked with the Council Committee and community members
through a year -long series of meetings to define the scope of the revitalization effort. Several
North First Street business owners served as "Block Captains" for the project. Citizens from
throughout the community provided input at a community open house held in May of 2011.
The Committee has finalized the brochure. At their meeting on September 29 they acted to
forward the report to the full Council for approval.
