SUBJECT: 2011 City Council District Map Correction
As the City Council will remember, no changes were required in the 2011 Council
District boundaries as a result of the required analysis of the 2010 Census Redistricting
Data (Public Law 94 -171. This message was conveyed to the Yakima County Auditor's
office and ballots were prepared and mailed accordingly for the pending Primary
Election.
However, the map staff presented inadvertently showed a portion of Precinct Number
127 in District 2 rather than District 3. The error was in the vicinity of Tieton Drive and
10 Avenue. On August 1, 2011 a staff representative of the Yakima County Auditor's
met with city staff. The mapping error was corrected on August 1, 2011. An updated
map is on -line at the City web site: http: / /www.ci.yakima.wa.us /council /distmap.asp
The ballots issued by the Yakima County Auditor's office were correct and consistent
with the adoption of 2011 Council Districts (Ordinance 2011 -14). The Council District
Candidates have been informed of this map error.
