ITEM TITLE: First Public Hearing to consider amendments to the City of Yakima 2011 Annual
Action Plan regarding the reduction of CDBG & HOME program funding.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has
requested an amendment to the City of Yakima 2011 Annual. Action Plan due to the pending
federal budget reduction for the city's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME
entitlement amounts.
The budget reduction for 2011 will reduce the city's CDBG entitlement by an estimated 16.5 %.
A reduction of 11.7% is expected for the HOME program. Federal regulations require an
amendment and corresponding public process when the programs are reduced by more than
10 %.
The Public Hearing will allow citizens to comment on the proposed amendments to the City of
® Yakima 2011 Annual Action Plan. The second and final public hearing will be held at the next
City Council Business meeting on August 16, 2011, at 7:00 p.m.
