Introduction and Welcome
Jheri Ketcham convened the monthly meeting of the Yakima Tree City USA (YTCUSA) Board at
5:02 p.m. at City Hall in the 2nd Floor Conference Room,129 N. 2nd Street, Yakima, Washington.
Approval of the Meeting Minutes from January 7, 2019
Justin made the motion to approve the previous meeting's minutes, and Chip seconded the
motion.
Street Tree Inventory-100% Data
Associate Planner Eric Crowell noted that all of the inventory data have been cleaned up and each
field totals 100 percent. Jheri suggested to put more emphasis on the poor and dead trees, and to
focus on the decisions that may have to be made in the future regarding those trees.
Community Forestry Assistance and Environmental Justice Grant Preparation
With the deadline for submitting a letter of intent fast approaching, Jheri proposed a street tree
planting pilot program, rather than using potential grant funds for just hiring a consultant for a
tree management plan based on the inventory results. Trees planted as part of the program could
have a special label. Jheri will draft a proposal and send it to the board members before the
deadline.
Staff Report —Chip Rognlie
Chip did not have anything to report.
For the Good of the Order
The Board needs to work on devising sidewalk planting standards based on the volume of cubic
feet needed for trees to healthily grow.

Lance motioned to adjourn the meeting at 5:30 p.m., and Justin seconded the motion. The next
YTCUSA Board of Advisors meeting will be held on April 1, 2019 at 5:00 pm in the 2nd Floor
Conference Room.
