A meeting with staff was held on June 1, 2011 on site to discuss the project. In attendance at the meeting were Joe Rosenlund, Street and Traffic Operations Manager, Randy Murphy, Parks Superintendent, Joseph Calhoun, City Parks Planner and myself. The best option was determined and I am providing a cost estimate for the work, survey information and site drawings for your review. A shorter, direct route would not comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act access requirements. I know that Chris Waarvick, Public Works Director has discussed this matter with you; also. - A memorandum of understanding [MOU] would need to be signed by the City of Yakima and the • administration of Chesterley Meadows Assisted Living Community as part of the proposal. City of Yakima Legal Department will be able to draft the agreement. It is my current understanding that all the construction cost incurred for this access to the park from private property must be incurred by the requesting organization. However Park Maintenance will be able to provide relocation of the irrigation system and ground repair at no cost. The Streets and Traffic Operations Division will provide the safety striping for the parking lot crossing also at no cost. Thank you for your interest in creating a better access to Chesterley Park for your residents. My contact information is listed on my enclosed business card. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. I look forward to hearing from you regarding this exciting project.
