R-2004 —188 A RESOLUTION authorizing the City Manager to execute an amendment extending the Interlocal Jail Agreement with the City of Toppenish through December 31, 2005. WHEREAS, on February 7, 2002, the City of Yakima executed an Interlocal Jail Agreement with the City of Toppenish for jail services; and WHEREAS, in November 2003, the City of Yakima and the City of Toppenish extended the Agreement through December 31, 2004; and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima desires to continue utilizing the jail facilities maintained by Toppenish for the detention of Yakima prisoners; and WHEREAS, the City of Toppenish is willing to continue making its jail facilities available to Yakima for the detention of some Yakima prisoners; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City to authorize an amendment extending the Interlocal Jail Agreement to December 31, 2005, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Manager of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized to execute the attached and incorporated "Amendment to the Interlocal Jail Agreement Between the City of Yakima and the City of Toppenish" for jail service through December 31, 2005. Rod Light - 576-6393 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: Attached is the resolution authorizing the execution of the Interlocal Jail Agreement between the City of Yakima and the City of Toppenish. This is a renewal of a previously executed agreement with the City of Toppenish, which expires on December 31, 2004. The agreement Toppenish provide no increase in the $35.00 per -day cost for housing City of Yakima prisoners. RESOLUTION NO. R-2004-188 AMENDMENT TO THE INTERLOCAL JAIL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF YAKIMA AND THE CITY OF TOPPENISH WHEREAS the City of Yakima and the City of Toppenish signed an Interlocal Jail Agreement on the 7th day of February, 2002, regarding the incarceration of prisoners; and WHEREAS in November 2003, the City of Yakima and the City of Toppenish signed an amendment extending the Agreement through December 31, 2004; and WHEREAS the City of Yakima and the City of Toppenish now wish to extend the Agreement through December 31, 2005. NOW THEREFORE IT IS AGREED AS FOLLOWS: The term of the Interlocal Jail Agreement originally signed between the parties on February 7, 2002, is extended for the period commencing January 1, 2005, and continuing thereafter until December 31, 2005.
