WHEREAS, DataLux Corporation is willing to provide the DataLux Tracer Mobile
Computers for a purchase price of $4,416 each for twelve additional units for a total

Yakima to authorize the purchase of said DataLux Tracer Mobile Computers, now,

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
In 2001 the City of Yakima went through the competitive bid process to select a
laptop computer system that met that needs of, and was rugged enough to
withstand the mobile environment in our fire service vehicles. From that process
staff determined that DataLux Mobile Computers best served the needs of the
City.
Additionally, we have determined that standardization of equipment adds
significant value to the long term maintenance and support of said equipment.
As part of our regionalization efforts other departments also have determined that
these units are the best fit for their system and as we provide services through
the entire mobile data system it fits that we should continue with the
standardization to these models of computer equipment. Therefore sole source
authorization is requested for the current purchase and all purchase for the next
three years.
