A RESOLUTION declaring a 1999 Ford Taurus VIN# 1 FAFP52SXXG187630; 1998 Honda Accord
VIN# 1HGCG5642WA010372; 1997 Dodge Ram pickup VIN#
3B7HF13Y9VG757247; 1995 Dodge Ram pickup VIN# 1B7HC16Z1SS134223 to
be surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and the Police Department and
authorizing sale of said vehicles by whatever means determined appropriate by
the City Manager.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns a 1999 Ford Taurus VIN# 1 FAFP52SXXG18763; 1998
Honda Accord VIN# 1HGCG5642WA01; 1997 Dodge Ram pickup VIN# 3B7HF13Y9VG757247;
1995 Dodge Ram pickup VIN# 1B7HC16Z1SS134223 which are no longer being utilized by the
Yakima City County Narcotics Unit and for whose use is restricted by Washington State drug asset
forfeiture laws and which are surplus;
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interest of the City to sell said
vehicles, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned 1999 Ford Taurus VIN#
1FAFP52SXXG187630; 1998 Honda Accord VIN# 1HGCG5642WA01; 1997 Dodge Ram
pickup VIN# 3B7HF13Y9VG757247; 1995 Dodge Ram pickup VIN#
1B7HC16Z1SS134223 to be surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and the Police
Department and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sell said vehicles by
whatever means he determines to be appropriate; and the City Manager is further hereby
authorized to hire services of an auctioneer and incur other necessary and reasonable
expenses incidental to such sale, with the cost of such sale to be paid from the proceeds
thereof.

ITEM TITLE: Consideration of Resolution declaring the attached list of vehicles to be
surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and the Police Department and
authorizing sale of said vehicles by whatever means determined
appropriate by the City Manager.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Yakima Police Department has a 1999 Ford Taurus VIN# 1 FAFP52SXXG187630 that
was being used as an undercover vehicle by the Yakima City County Narcotics Unit. The
vehicle was purchased by drug money forfeited to the Yakima City County Narcotics Unit.
The Yakima Police Department has a 1998 Honda Accord VIN# 1HGCG5642WA010372;
1997 Dodge Ram pickup VIN# 3B7HF13Y9VG757247; 1995 Dodge Ram pickup VIN#
1 B7HC16Z1 SS134223 that were being used as undercover vehicles by the Yakima City
County Narcotics Unit. These vehicles were seized and forfeited to the Yakima City
County Narcotics Unit as part of a narcotics investigation.
These vehicles will be offered for auction/sale by a means deemed appropriate by the City
Manager, such as "e -bay", "Public Surplus", local auction or sealed bid. Funds realized
from their sale would need to be returned to the Yakima City County Narcotics Unit as
required by Washington State drug asset forfeiture laws.
Under the terms and conditions of the Yakima City Charter, City officials and employees
are prohibited from participating in the surplus auction directly or otherwise as a buyer or
buyer's agent.
