R 2008-20 A RESOLUTION declaring police canine Lektor to be retired and surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and authorizing Lektor's sale to his handler, Sergeant Mike Henne, for the sum of one dollar. WHEREAS, the City owns one police Belgian Malinois "K 9" named Lektor who, after seven and a half years of service and 194 criminal apprehensions, is being retired; and WHEREAS, Lektor has been in the constant care of Sgt. Mike Henne for his entire working life; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interests of the City to sell Lektor to his handler rather than attempt to sell him at a public auction, now, therefore; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Council hereby declares Lektor to be retired from service and surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and authorizes Lektor's sale to Sergeant Mike Henne for the sum of one dollar. Mike Henne has been Lektor's handler for the dog's entire career We believe it is in the best interest of the City and in Lektor's best interest to sell him to his handler, Sgt. Mike Henne, for the sum of $1 Lektor is already a part of Sgt. Henne's family, having lived with him for seven and a half years, and it seems proper and fitting to continue that relationship Resolution X Ordinance Funding Source Contract Other (Specify) N/A APPROVED FOR SUBMITTAL.
