The requests were for additional lighting at alleys in the 0 1200 block of Folsom and the 500 block of West Chestnut to deter crime and prevent vandalism. The 1200 block of Folsom is in a "high crime" area, the 500 block of Chestnut is not. Pacific Power and Light has denied our requests to install streetlights at both locations on existing power poles. There is no suitable location at either of these sites to install an additional pole to provide the requested lighting. PP &L has recently altered the setback requirements of pole - mounted fixtures from the power lines. This new policy will virtually preclude any installation of new streetlights on existing power poles. In most situations, this will raise the price of installing new streetlights from about $300 to $1300 or more. i • Ill ms /Memorandu street lighting requests (2).doc
