Brad Hill 1,, kpugnrr', _r; Carmen Mendez „4i"���- Jason White December 10th, 2019 Dr. Sara Cate, YVC Board Chair Yakima Valley College PO Box 22520 / Yakima WA 98907 / C/ \„ \ Dear Dr. Cate, The Yakima City Council strongly supports Yakima Valley College's (YVC)`proposal to replace Prior Hall and Kendall Hall on the college campus.\The new facility that is‘intended to replace the two aging buildings will provide YVC's Music Department and Drama Department with modern, functional space to continue to-foster an appreciation of the arts. �\ Additionally, the new facility will offer the opportunity to rre lize-greater efficiencies and cost management tools that will allow YVC'\b\urgeoning'nursing program to continue to meet an increasing demand. Not,only.will the newfacility accommodat'existing nursing courses of study, but will make it,possible f r the college`to establish a new licensed practical nurse (LPN) program. / :� A \% ,, 1 A YVC's technology support services program will\afs.o benefit from enhanced space in the new facility, which-will-allow it to,provide students with\the greatest opportunity to succeed. YVC is'an invaluable`as et,to the Yakima cornmunitY and the entire Central Washington Region: The college plays a.pivotal role in preparing our workforce to meet the demands of today and,theuture. The Yakima City Council recognizes the importance of YVC in strengthening the economic,cultural, and social elements of our community. \\ The Council encourages other entities to support the efforts of YVC to replace the outmoded Prior Hall and Kendall Hall with/a facility that meets the contemporary needs of the college.
