The new facility that is intended to replace the two aging buildings will provide YVC's Music Department and Drama Department with modern, functional space to continue to foster an appreciation of the arts. Additionally, the new facility will offer the opportunity to realize greater efficiencies and cost management tools that will allow YVC's burgeoning nursing program to continue to meet an increasing demand. Not only will the new facility accommodate existing nursing courses of study, but will make it possible for the college to establish a new licensed practical nurse (LPN) program. YVC's technology support services program will also benefit from enhanced space in the new facility, which will allow it to provide students with the greatest opportunity to succeed. YVC is an invaluable asset to the Yakima community and the entire Central Washington Region. The college plays a pivotal role in preparing our workforce to meet the demands of today and the future. The Yakima City Council recognizes the importance of YVC in strengthening the economic, cultural, and social elements of our community. The Council encourages other entities to support the efforts of YVC to replace the outmoded Prior Hall and Kendall Hall with a facility that meets the contemporary needs of the college. Please let the Council know if it can provide any additional assistance to YVC as it pursues its goal of continuing to modernize its campus and improve the experience it provides students. Sincerely, Mayor Kathy Coffey Yakima told t.M.gi 1111C 2015 1994
