ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING - THURSDAY JULY 15, 1976
The City Council. met in session on this date at 12:30 Noon in the
Holiday Inn Restaurant, Yakima, Washington.
Councilmen present were Assistant Mayor W. K. "Pete" Moore, Jean
Allard, Ralph Holbrook, Dr. Bill Simmons and Gordon Wonder. Mayor ,
Betty L. Edmondson and Nadine Walker absent.
After brief discussion it was MOVED by Wonder, seconded by Holbrook
to ask staff to review and analyze a proposal from Eichler Disposal
Inc. (of January 30, 1976) to provide refuse collection and
disposal services within the City: carried, Allard, Holbrook,
Moore, Simmons and Wonder voting aye by voice vote. Edmondson
and Walker absent. Edmondson present after 1:15 P.M.
Councilman Allard initiated discussion regarding the existance of
the need to control prostitution in the City. The City Attorney
and Chief of Police provided information regarding recent efforts
on their part to research the law and police practices with a view
to drafting ordinances that would contribute to the control of
prostitution. It was MOVED by Allard, seconded by Wonder to request
staff to report on what legal and police actions could be taken
to control prostitution: carried, Allard, Holbrook, Moore, Simmons
and Wonder voting aye by voice vote. Edmondson and Walker absent.
Council members approved out-of-state travel for Chief LaRue and
Lt. Stan May to go to Boise, Idaho for a FBI Academy retraining
seminar July 18 thru July 21.
It was MOVED by Holbrook, seconded by Simmons that the Council -
go into Executive Session to discuss negotiations with the Yakima
Police Patrolman's Association: carried, Allard, Holbrook, Moore,
Simmons and Wonder voting aye by voice vote. Edmondson and
Walker absent. Mr. J. H. Curran of Cabot Dow Associates was
present to discuss negotiations with the Council.
After the Executive Session,kand there being no further business
to come before the Council, it was MOVED by Allard, seconded by
Wonder that we do now adjourn at the hour of 2:00 p.m.: carried,
Allard, Holbrook, Moore, Simmons, Wonder and Edmondson voting aye
by voice vote. Walker absent.
