HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/11/1975 Adjourned Meeting 41_ ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11, 1975 ____ --- -- The City Council met in session on this date at 4:00 P.M. in the Conference Room at Yakima City Hall. Councilmen present at the meeting were Mayor Bert Broad, Wray 'Brown, Betty L. Edmondson, Dick Jarms, W. K. "Pete" Moore, 'Don Schussler and Dr. Bill Simmons. The Council gave consideration to unfunded budgetary concerns for 1976. Re the request from the County for support for District Court Probation Services, Director of Management and Budget, Charles Rains, reported that he could find no apparent justification for the request, considering that the City was, in effect, supporting the service through property tax collected by the County. It was suggested, however, thatonemeans of ' support would be to encourage legislative support for raising II/ fees. General discussion followed with the final conclusion that these services should not receive any funds from the City in 1976. : Re the voice privacy system budgeted at $12,000, the Police iChief reported on the reliability of the program concept and its effectiveness in terms of controlling crime. In his judgment, the system works well and would be a deterent to eavesdropping on police radio control. The Council agreed that the Voice !Privacy System be funded from FRS funds for 1976. !Re the other unfunded budget expenditures for 1976, the Council made the following decisions: Humane Society - approved an increase in pound fees to $1,000 per month. (General Fund) Health District- approved an increase from $70,000 to 90 $,831. (FRS Funds) Firing Range alterations - $3,000 (General Fund) SCERS a prior cost - $4,200 (General Fund) i i Litter enforcement grant by Department of Ecology - $15,993 !Action was deferred on the Voluntary Action Center, Housing !Resource Center and Teen Center. No funding was authorized for Neighborhood Health Services. There being no further business to come before the Council, it was MOVED by Moore, seconded by Simmons that we do now adjourn ' 1 ' at the hour of 5:00 P.M.: carried, Broad, Brown, Edmondson, !Jams, Moore, Schussler and Simmons vo inv aye by voice vote.
