ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1975
'City Council met in session on this date at 4:00 P.M. in the Con-
ference Room at Yakima City Hall.
'Councilmen present at the meeting were Mayor Bert Broad, Wray Brown,
Betty L. Edmondson, Dick Jarms, W. K. "Pete" Moore, Don Schussler
and Dr. Bill Simmons.
!Police Chief Jack LaRue reviewed the preliminary Police budget for
1976. He indicated that expenditures were up 21.5 percent over

1975 due principally to salary adjustment and new CETA personnel

for which the City receives $176,000 in Federal Manpower Funding.
The Police Department has also experienced an increase in pensions,
!capital outlay, insurance, and vehicle repair and maintenance.
Concerning capital outlay, the Council was interested in what
efforts were being undprtaken to purchase smaller vehicles next
'year. Chief LaRue replied that they were studying the availability
of small, compact police units that would be available under
Istate bid. Further reports will be made at,a later time.
;Fire Department Chief Carroll reviewed the preliminary 1976 Fire
;Department Budget. He observed that the Fire Department expenditures
were up from 14.5 percent due to increases in salary, insurance
l and capital outlay items. The Fire Department is also supported
by some $43,000 in Federal CETA funding which will support five
ifirefighters and one alarm operator for the first six months
of 1976.
!General discussion followed regarding the budget. No formal
!action was taken.
'There being no further business to come before the Council, it
was MOVED by Schussler, seconded by Moore that this meeting be
!adjourned to Thursday, November 13, 1975, at the hour of 4:00
'P.M., to then meet in the Conference Room: carried, Broad, Brown,
'Edmondson, Jarms, Moore, Schussler and Simmons voting aye by
!voice vote.
