PROCLAMATION
AREAS, over 107,000 surgical technologists nationwide are integral
members of the surgical team's commitment to provide patients maximum safety
and the highest quality of surgical care, which is reflected through the surgical
technologist's motto `Aeger(Primo, The (Patient First;"and
WHEREAS, surgical technologists are responsible for the application of
sterile and aseptic technique in the operating room, ensuring that equipment
functions properly, andfacilitating safe and effective conduct during invasive
surgical procedures; and
AREAS, surgical technologists obtain certification upon graduation
from an accredited program, conferred by the NationalcBoardofSurgical
Technology, and Surgical Assisting based upon passage of the national exam.
NOWEREcFORE, I, Kathy Coffey, Uvlayorof the City of(Yakima and
on behalf of the (Yakima City Council, do hereby proclaim the weekofSeptember
15-22, 2019 as
"NATIONAL Sv12GICAL `1'CiarOLOGISTWEEK"
in the City of(Yakima, and encourage all citizens to celebrate the honorable workof
surgical technologists for their contribution in helping to foster safe and healthy
communities in our City.
