Minutes far Meeting on July 24, 2019
Call to Order
Commissioner Pinkerton called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 P.M.

A. Approval of Meeting Minutes
It was motioned by Commissioner Mann and seconded by Commissioner
Pinkerton to approve the meeting minutes of March 27, 2019, April 24, 2019,
May 15, 2019, May 22, 2019, and June 26, 2019; the motion carried
unanimously.
B. Selection of Chair
Staff Liaison Trevor Martin recommended that this item be postponed due to
Commissioner Hall not being present and in anticipation of a new member being
appointed in August. The Commission had consensus to postpone this item.
C. Grant Updates
Martin reported that the Historic Preservation Commission's joint meeting with
the Yakima Planning Commission is tentatively scheduled for August for Spencer
Howard of Artifacts Consulting Inc. to provide another presentation on the
"historic fruit row" inventory and the next steps in the grant process. Property
owners on "fruit row" will be invited to attend.
Martin reminded the Commission that the City was awarded a grant to do a
reconnaissance -level survey of Naches Parkway to create a local overlay of
North Naches Ave. South Naches Ave may be the focus of a future grant.

D. Member Search
Martin reported that several letters and emails have been sent in regards to
recruiting new members for the Historic Preservation Commission, with no
response received. Commissioner Mann volunteered to announce that the
Commission is seeking new members at the upcoming Greater Yakima Chamber
of Commerce board meeting and the Downtown Association of Yakima meeting.
Martin informed the Commission that the City's Partnership Committee is
considering reducing the number of members on the Historic Preservation from 7
to 5.
IV. Other Business
Discussion took place on the historic Rosedell house that is up for sale regarding the
status of the tax credits. Martin confirmed that he will look into whether the tax credits
will continue with the change of ownership.
Commissioner Mann spoke on strengthening relationships with the Main Street
Program and Yakima Valley Trolleys. He voiced his support and desire for the
community to support the rebuilding of the Stop N Go restaurant that burned down.

VI. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at approximately 5:45 p.m. to the next scheduled meeting
on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
