For Meeting of:August 20, 2019 ITEM TITLE: Consideration of a letter of support for a Request for Proposal (RFP) process for Ambulance Services SUBMITTED BY: Aaron Markham, Fire Chief SUMMARY EXPLANATION: At the July 23, 2019 agenda preview meeting, Fire Chief Aaron Markham gave a brief presentation on a Request for Proposal (RFP) process for the selection of a single ambulance provider to serve Yakima County Trauma Zone One, specifically for 911 emergency calls. It was requested that Council authorize a letter of support to the Board of Yakima County Commissioner's supporting this RFP process at the next regular business meeting.A draft letter of support is included with this item for Council consideration. Second Street Yakima, WA 98901 Board of Yakima County Commissioners, The Yakima City Council is pleased to provide this letter of support in favor of moving forward with the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for the selection of a single ambulance provider serving Yakima County Trauma Zone One, specifically for 911 emergency calls. The Council been briefed and understands the service level concerns that have been observed. The Council looks forward to working with the County Commission throughout this process in a collaborative effort to design and build a better emergency medical delivery system in Yakima County. The Council requests to have an opportunity to review the RFP language prior to the Commission taking any formal action. Thank you for your careful consideration of this matter.
