CaII to Order Commission Chair Kenmotsu called the meeting to order at approximately 1:10 P.M. II. RoII CaII Present: Nancy Kenmotsu, Leslie Wahl, Whitney Stohr, Molly Storrs, Joe Mann Absent: Nancy Rayner (excused), Karl Pasten (unexcused) Quorum: Quorum present Staff: Historic Preservation Liaison Joseph Calhoun III. New Business A. Approval of August 24, 2016, September 28, 2016, and October 26, 2016 Minutes. A motion was by Mr. Mann made to approve the meeting minutes from August 24, 2016; September 28, 2016, and October 26, 2016. Ms. Wahl seconded. Motion carried. B. 2016 Awards Discussion. The awards criteria were read for each category — Property, Research, and Person. Discussion involved potential candidates for each, as follows. Property: Depot building, Emporium (designated eligible?), Gilbert House, Ice Cream parlor at museum. Research: Jo Miles; Yakima Fairgrounds; Yakima Arboretum. Person: John Baule; Spencer Howard. Rather than vote at this meeting, the consensus of the commission was to hold a vote at the January 2017 meeting and present awards in February 2017. IV. Other Business A. General Discussion of Other Items Not on the Agenda 2017 Project ideas: There was discussion on picking a project or two for the commission to focus on in 2017. Preliminary ideas include Naches Avenue and the Yakima Trolleys. This will be an agenda item for the January meeting. Larson Lighting Project: The recent exterior lighting project was unveiled downtown to much fanfare. There was a question asked if the property owner/contractor contacted the city or DAHP about possible historic implications. Mr. Calhoun provided an update on the Fruit Row Historic District. Staff is currently working with Mr. Pechtel on marketing materials for the project that can be distributed to property owners and the public. V. Citizen Participation None. VI. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at approximately 2.25 p.m. to the next scheduled meeting which will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
