CITY OF YAKIMA
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Minutes for Meeting of September 28, 2016
I. CaII to Order
Commission Chair Kenmotsu called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 P.M.
II. RoII CaII
Present: Nancy Kenmotsu, Nancy Rayner, Molly Storrs, Joe Mann
Absent: Karl Pasten, Leslie Wahl, Whitney Stohr (all excused)
Quorum: Quorum present
Staff: Historic Preservation Liaison Trevor Martin
III. New Business
A. Presentation — Special Valuation of Hotel Maison
Spencer Howard, from Artifacts Consulting, provided a presentation on the special valuation
of Hotel Maision and answered questions from the Commission. Per the direction of the chair,
the Commission took a vote to issue this special valuation and sign the agreement with Mr.
Morrier. The motion carried unanimously.
B. Discuss Historic District Proposal — Historic Fruit Row
Discussion ensued pertaining to the national historic register benefits, requirements, etc.
There was also discussion on modifications to the interior and exterior of the buildings in this
proposed historic fruit row district.
IV. Other Business
A. General Discussion of Other Items Not on the Agenda
Nancy Kenmotsu announced that the Yakima Valley Museum will have a presentation on
October 16th pertaining to the environmental legacy of William O. Douglas.
V. Citizen Participation
None noted.
VI. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 6:25 p.m. to the next scheduled meeting which will be
held on Wednesday, October 26th, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
