Minutes for Meeting of December 27, 2017
Call to Order
Commission Chair Stohr called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 P.M.
II. Roll Call
Present: Whitney Stohr, Cynthia Hall, Jacob Clay, Leslie Wahl, Karl
Pasten, Nancy Kenmotsu
Absent: None
Quorum: Quorum present
Staff: Historic Preservation Liaison Trevor Martin
III. New Business
A. Certificate of Appropriateness
A motion was made by Ms. Kenmotsu to approve the Certificate of
Appropriateness for the installation of solar panels on a home in the Historic
Barge Chestnut Neighborhood, Ms. Hall seconded. Motion carried.
IV. Other Business
General Discussion of other items not on the agenda
A. CLG Grant Opportunities
Mr. Martin presented historical information on a past grant that the Planning
Department applied for in 2016 to work with Artifacts in developing a survey
of potential historic preservation buildings/opportunities within the City of
Yakima. Mr. Martin suggested a brainstorming session to put together a list
of top 5 ideas for potential projects to apply for in 2018.
Brainstorming suggestions and discussion; Fruit Row; Barge Chestnut Phase
2 (and 3); Naches Parkway; re-examine inventory of downtown buildings;
South East Neighborhood survey; 6th Avenue Trolley Line (district)

VI. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at approximately 5:55 p.m. to the next scheduled meeting
which will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall
Council Chambers.
