HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-27-17 HPC MinutesOR CITY OF YAKIMA HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Minutes for Meeting of September 27, 2017 Call to Order Commission Vice -Chair Stohr called the meeting to order at approximately 5:36 P.M. II. Roll Call Present: Whitney Stohr, Nancy Kenmotsu, Jacob Clay Absent: Leslie Wahl, Karl Pasten (excused), Cynthia Hall Quorum: No quorum present Staff: Historic Preservation Liaison Joseph Calhoun III. Approval of August 23, 2017 Minutes With no quorum present, approval of the August minutes will be postponed until the October meeting. IV. New Business A. Chair/Vice-Chair Vote With no quorum present, the vote for chair and vice -chair will be postponed until the October meeting. B. New Member Introduction Commissioner Clay introduced himself. He is a graduate of Eastern WA University. He recently moved to Yakima is a Yakima County Planner. V. Old Business A. BOCC Letter Response The BOCC provided a response to the previous letter which states that the funding is already allocated. Commission members were in agreement that we should keep bringing this forward and provide specific project(s) that the money would go toward. Farmer's Market — Season Recap There was lots of interest from people who stopped by the Farmer's Market booth. There was significant interest in the online maps. People came from all over, not just Yakima. The trolley was always a topic of interest. The dates worked well being the 2nd weekend of each month. C. Saturday Soapbox Ms. Stohr presented a draft Saturday Soapbox called "Keeping History Alive in Yakima." Future topics could include the Women's Century Club, Trolley, Historic Art, and the Colonel. VI. Other Business A. General Discussion of other items not on the agenda Ms. Kenmotsu encouraged people who attend the fair to seek out the Wenas Mammoth display. VII. Citizen Participation None VIII. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at approximately 5:45 p.m. to the next scheduled meeting which will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
