Minutes for Meeting of August 23, 2017
Call to Order
Commission Chair Storrs called the meeting to order at approximately 5:36 P.M.
II. Roll Call
Present: Molly Storrs, Whitney Stohr, Leslie Wahl, Cynthia Hall
Absent: Nancy Kenmotsu, Karl Pasten (excused)
Quorum: Quorum present
Staff: Historic Preservation Liaison Joseph Calhoun
III. Approval of July 26, 2017 Minutes
The meeting minutes from July 26, 2017 were presented for discussion. A
motion was made by Ms. Wahl to approve as submitted, Ms. Stohr seconded.
Motion carried.
IV. New Business
A. New Member Introduction
Commissioner Hall introduced herself. She grew up in Yakima and graduated
from UW with a BA in Political Science. She spent 30 years in the Seattle area
and has now moved back to Yakima.
B. Chair Announcement
Chair Storrs announced her resignation due to Seattle. This will be her last
meeting. Ms. Wahl expressed her gratitude for Molly's service on the commission
and to serve as chair.
V. Old Business
A. BOCC Final Letter
Mr. Calhoun provided the final letter that will be sent to the BOCC. The letter was
approved by the City Council on August 15, 2017.

B. Farmer's Market — September 10 (final date)
Mr. Calhoun noted the next, and final, Farmer's Market date is September 10.
Staff will coordinate the tent and materials.
C. Saturday Soapbox
Future ideas for additional Saturday Soapbox articles were discussed, including
history about the Women's Century Club and their membership and fundraising
efforts. At the previous meeting, other topics such as the Trolley, Fruit Row,
Historic Art, and the Colonel. Ms. Stohr will work on a topic for next month.

VIII. Adjournment
Ms. Stohr motioned to adjourn the meeting, Ms. Hall seconded. The meeting
adjourned at approximately 5:45 p.m. to the next scheduled meeting which will be
held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council
Chambers.
