Minutes far Meeting of February 28, 2018
CaII to Order
Commission Vice Chair Wahl called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 P.M.

Absent: Whitney Stohr (excused), Karl Pasten, Jacob Clay

City Council: Jason White, District 2

III. New Business
A. New Member Introduction
Commissioner Pinkerton introduced herself. She grew up in Pendleton, OR and
attended college in West Virginia where she had meaningful ties to historic
preservation. She currently works as a local attorney and is interested in serving
her community through this commission.
Councilmember White introduced himself as the council liaison. White
represents District 2 and has a strong interest in preserving the historic integrity
within the city.
B. Discuss Goals and Projects for the Year
The following projects were discussed at length and reviewed for merit to
determine potential suitability for possible DAHP CLG grant funding.
1. Fruit Row
2. "Japan Town"
3. Naches Ave
4. North/South East Neighborhood
5. Barge Chestnut Neighborhood (Phase 2)

C. Discuss Grant Opportunities
Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation CLG grant applications for
2018 are due on April 27. Prior to the next meeting, Mr. Martin will provide some
estimated project costs for the following three projects that were determined to
have the most viability for further discussion and possible CLG grant funding;
Fruit Row, Naches Ave, Barge Chestnut Neighborhood (Phase 2).
IV. Other Business
General Discussion of other items not on the agenda
A second meeting date for March was discussed to make up the missed January
2018 meeting date. Mr. Martin to send out possible options for a second date in
March via email.
V. Citizen Participation
Dawn King (Naches Ave resident and property owner) provided neighborhood
testimonial on the Naches Ave inventory and agreed to be a neighborhood liaison.
Vicki Veldman (Naches Ave resident and property owner) offered volunteer support
for art work services to the commission.
VI. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:45 p.m. to the next scheduled meeting
date which will be determined via email. The regularly scheduled March meeting
date will be held in addition on Wednesday, March 28, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the City
Hall Council Chambers.
