Minutes for Meeting on April 24, 2019
Call to Order
Vice -Chair Cynthia Hall called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 P.M.

A. Grant Update
Trevor Martin, Associate Planner, gave a brief status update on the grant with
Northwest Vernacular to assess historic buildings on the portion of 1st Ave. in
Yakima known as "fruit row". He reported that Spencer Howard of Northwest
Vernacular was in Yakima last month to do a walkthrough of the buildings owned
by Hollingbery and Son Inc. for initial assessment of their retained historic
integrity. He added that Spencer Howard is compiling his findings and will come
speak to the Historic Preservation and Planning Commission in the near future.
B. Main Street Conference Update
Martin reported that this agenda item will be moved to a future meeting.
C. Certificate of Appropriateness Review — 2608 Palatine Ave
Martin summarized his staff report on the request for an addition to the home at
2608 Palatine Ave. After brief discussion, it was moved by Commissioner
Edmonson and seconded by Commissioner Pinkerton to accept the plans as
submitted; the motion carried unanimously.

D. DAHP Grant 2020
Martin reported that the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation
(DAHP) 2020 grant is due April 26, 2019; the results of the grant applications
may be available late summer/early fall of this year.
E. Member Search
Martin informed the Commission that outreach efforts are ongoing to recruit more
members to the Historic Preservation Commission.
In other business, Commissioner Edmonson spoke briefly on a fundraiser for
Yakima Valley Trolleys on May 4, 2019.

V. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at approximately 5:40 p.m. to the next scheduled meeting
on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
