WHEREAS, emergencies can occur at any time that require Caw enforcement, fire or
emergency medical -services; and
WHEREAS, EAS, when an emergency occurs it is the prompt response of Caw enforcement
officers, firefighters, and emergency medical -service providers that is critical to the protection of
life and preservation of property; and
`Gh'JiEEEAS, the safety of our Caw enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency
medical -service providers is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained
from citizens who telephone the 'Yakima County's E911 Communications Center, known as
SunComm; and
WHEREAS; emergency call takers and dispatchers are the first and most critical
contact our citizens have with emergency services; and
WHEREAS, emergency call takers and dispatchers are the single vital linkfor our law
enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical -service providers by monitoring their
activities by radio, providing them information andensuring their safety; and
SAS, AS, emergency call takers and dispatchers of SunComm have contributed
substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients;
and
(GIAXEREAS, each emergency call -taker and dispatcher has exhibited compassion,
understanding, professionalism, and displayed untiring efforts during their assigned shifts in
the past year;
NOW TIFERETORE, 1, Kathy Coffey, Mayor of the City of 'Yakima and on behalf of
the 'Yakima City Council- do hereby proclaim the weekofApril14-20, 2019 as

in the City of 'Yakima, in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep
our City and citizens safe.
