BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL YAKIMA, WASHINGTON AGENDA STATEMENT Item No. 5.A. For Meeting of: February 5, 2019 ITEM TITLE: Council Healthy Communities and Neighborhood Building Committee report SUBMITTED BY: Cliff Moore, City Manager Kay Funk, Committee Chair SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The Healthy Communities and Neighborhood Building Committee met on January 10, 2019 and has the following to report on: • The Parks Commission continues to review long term maintenance of Lions and Franklin Pools, as well as planning for MLK Pool. Staff will coordinate a tour of the three pools and two community centers for the Facilities ad hoc/steering committee (Mayor Coffey and Councilmember White). • Mr. Wilkinson will distribute to City Council a history informational flyer with archival photos of Lions Pool. • The February HCNB meeting is cancelled in Councilmember Funk's absence. The next meeting will be on March 14, at 10:00 am, and every 2nd Thursday thereafter. • The Committee will continue (at the March meeting)to discuss revision of an ordinance to define inoperable or junk vehicles. Discussion has included citizen input, Code Enforcement, Legal, and City Manager's report on the status of the Clean City Program. • The Planning Division's Affordable Housing Report will be presented in a Council Study Session on February 12th. The HCNB will then develop actions to increase availability of affordable housing.
