1. Describe current status of project (for example: planning, procurement,
predevelopment, construction, activity underway, service marketing, ect.)
In the third quarter of the year we have completed the 100 Jobs for 100 Kids Program, placing 152 youth in Summer
Employment. Also completed is the summer programming serving 85 youth from June through August. In the third
quarter staff will participate in community outreach, training and preparing for the fall programs.
Volunteer Program — During this report period there were 342.25 volunteer hours donated by community
volunteers. The rate for volunteers in Washington State is $31.03. if you multiply this by 342.25 volunteer hours
donated by community members is $10,620.01.
Work Experience — From the above amount 41.25 hours were work experience hours completed during this
quarter. We continue to partner with People for People and NCAC to serve as a training site for individuals working
through the process to be re-trained and be self-sufficient.
Summer Program — Our Summer Program runs Monday through Thursday 9:OOam— 4:30pm. There were 85 youth
enrolled, serving children ages 5-17. Our program included Tutoring (353.50 hours), Literacy (760 hours), with
(6,214.75) overall participation hours. Daily each child arrives and participates at least 15-20 minutes in in tutoring
or literacy. If more time is needed that child will return to that area. We were able to provide 2,370 breakfast, lunch
and snacks this quarter. This summer included S.T.E.M. programming from the Pacific Science Center. We were
fortunate to have Dr. Cheryl Young as our lead instructor. Activities included learning how to make rockets;
recognizing the difference between plant and stem cells; and a field trip to the Hanford Observatory where the youth
learn the history of Gravitational Waves and the importance of them in the United States.

Food Pantry — We continue to receive support from the East Side Walmart. They donate weekly to the center
allowing us to continue to operate our food pantry. Items include dry foods, fresh produce, bakery items, and meat
product. This quarter we provided services to approximately 1200 individuals.
Computer Lab — We have a computer lab that is open to the community from 8:OOam — 3:OOpm Monday through
Friday. During this report period we 36 participation hours.
Senior Services — We continue to have a strong senior group that participates in services at the center. These
services include Senior Nutrition (managed by People for People); 9,000 meals per month are being provided at the
HBCC Site. Yakima Neighborhood Health provides free foot care to seniors free of charge, but will accept a
donation. They also provide medical, mental heal heath and outreach services on a sliding scale for low income
families. They average approximately 218 unduplicated seniors in foot care. We continue to operate a few
recreational activities to include Senior Bingo (137 hours) and Movie Day (37 hours) once per week. Virginia
Mason Memorial continues to provide the Gentle Chair Exercise class twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
PRE — GED — We held our first graduation class here at HBCC, with a total of three graduates. They were very
excited and all of their family members attended. As we change gears to GED Prep we hope to have more success
over the next few years.

Our actions for this quarter will be to continue to research funding opportunities, and planning for the year.
3. Describe and provide reasons for changes in the original project goals/milestones:
As we begin to develop new partnerships our goals may change. We are always seeking to provide additional
services from the center so that we are able to meet the needs of the community.

Welcome to 2018 NESSP Summer Camp
Dear Campers & Parents,
Welcome to the 2018 Henry Beauchamp Community Center NESSP Summer Camp! We have an
awesome week of scientific activities planned for all participants. Our camp is scheduled to take
place from July — Please remember that our sessions will run Tuesday through Thursday.
During this camp, participants will transform into young scientists as they engage in countless
experiments, field trips and hands-on activities.
In addition to this email, you have also received a welcome packet that gives more information
about the camp. Please read the entire document as it contains important details that will help your
camper prepare for the summer camp. We are also including a short form that you need to
complete. The questions will help us prepare some important details for the camp. Your thoughts
are very important to us, so if you have any questions or concerns regarding this form or camp in
