For Meeting of: November 6, 2018 ITEM TITLE: Open record public hearing to consider the Yakima Planning Commission's recommendation on a Comprehensive Plan Amendment (CPA#006-18) and Rezone (RZ#007-18) request submitted by Israel Zaragoza SUBMITTED BY: Joan Davenport, Al CP, Community Development Director Joseph Calhoun, Planning Manager Trevor Martin, Associate Planner (509) 575-6162 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: Norden Planning Services, on behalf of Israel Zaragoza, submitted Comprehensive Plan Map Amendment (CPA), Rezone, and Environmental Review applications for one (1) parcel totaling 0.15 acres located at 1317 S. 7th St. The property owner is requesting to change the Future Land Use Map designation from Mixed Residential to Commercial Mixed Use and to concurrently rezone from Two -Family Residential (R-2) to General Commercial (GC). After holding a study session on July 11, 2018 and a public hearing on August 22, 2018, the Yakima Planning Commission recommended approval of the Comp Plan Amendment and Rezone applications, with the Findings being signed by the chair on August 31, 2018. In accordance with YMC 16.10.090, the City Council shall direct planning staff to prepare legislation to approve, approve with conditions, or deny each amendment under consideration; and at a subsequent City Council meeting enact an Ordinance adopting the decision reached at the public hearing. The chair signed the Commission's Findings on August 31, 2018.
