Budget for a North 1 Street corridor revitalization study

SUMMARY EXPLANATION At their April 6, 2010 meeting, Council approved submitting a
planning grant application to the Yakima County Supporting Investments in Economic
Diversification (SIED) fund in the amount of $25,000 for the North 1 Street Corridor
Revitalization Project. The grant would be used for the following activities
• Community mobilization and visioning process to determine options for infrastructure
and public facilities related to the North 1 Street Corridor Revitalization Project
• • Develop illustrations and cost estimates for recommended improvements
The SIED board approved the application, therefore, a budget amendment is necessary to
accomplish the project. The attached ordinance authorizes an additional appropriation totaling
$25,000 within the Economic Development Fund for professional services This is a "balanced"
appropriation, with corresponding resources to match the project costs

ORDINANCE NO 2010 -
AN ORDINANCE amending the 2010 budget for the City of Yakima, and making
appropriations of $25,000 within the 123 - Economic Development
Fund for expenditure during 2010 to conduct a North 1 Street
corridor revitalization study
WHEREAS, the amount of $25,000 must be appropriated within the 123 - Economic
Development Fund for expenditure during 2010 to conduct a North 1 Street corridor
revitalization study, and
WHEREAS, the expenditure is being funded by a grant from the Yakima County
Supporting Investments in Economic Diversification (SIED) fund in the amount of $25,000 which
was made for the purpose of conducting a North 1 Street corridor revitalization study, and
WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 2010 budget it could not reasonably have
been foreseen that the appropriation provided for by this ordinance would be required, and the
City Council declares that an emergency exists of the type contemplated by RCW 35 33 091
and that it is in the best interests of the City to make the appropriation herein provided, now,
therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA

Fund Balance in the 123 - Economic Development Fund to the following accounts as a 2010
appropriation
