happiness and a better Cfe for themselves and their familes; and
WOEREAS, we can pay tribute to those who shaped the (and we Cove today while
working to secure everlasting peace, prosperity, and opportunity for a((who ca((America home
6y welcoming our newest citizens; and
WI-PERMS, La Casa.Ifogar has been providing Latina women and children
opportunities to pursue education to strengthen themselves, theirfami(ies and this community
since 1988; and
WI PERMS,people who are naturalized are more civica(Cy engaged,fee(a stronger
sense of belonging, and can better invest in their families and in Yakima; and
ZL'WERSEAS, La Casa.Ifogar has been offering Citizenship and[atura(ization
opportunities to immigrant families since 2014 preparing them for their naturalization
application in order for them to increase their income, their probability of homeownership and
overa((emp(oyment in our community; and
WI-PERMS, in September of this year, La Casa.Ifogar celebrated naturalization of its
one-thousandth citizen.
NOW,, ZKERETO12E, I, Kathy Coffey, Mayor of the City of Yakima, and on behalf
of the Yakima City Counci(do hereby proclaim October2, 2018 as
"NEW CITIZENS vAT'
in the City of Yakima and encourage everyone to reflect on the importance of active citizenship
and reaffirm our commitment to the rights and obligations of citizenship in this great ration.
