ITEM TITLE: Council Partnerships Committee recommendation to adopt 2019
State and Federal Legislative Priorities

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
At its August 16th meeting, the Council Partnerships Committee unanimously recommended that
the draft 2019 State and Federal Legislative Priorities be presented for full Council consideration
at the September 11th, 2018 Council regular meeting. The draft priorities reflect the Council's
Strategic Plan and were developed based on current and emerging issues that have been
discussed by Council committees and/or the full Council. The City's lobbyists in Olympia and
Washington, D.C. also provided input in the development of the proposed priorities. Once
adopted, with any necessary additions, deletions, or other revisions having been made, the
priorities will be presented to the Yakima area's legislative and Congressional delegations and
efforts to ensure the success of the priorities will begin in earnest.
