community, school, and business in America, traveling more than 170 billion miles and
delivering 6.5 billion tons of freight each year; and
PW I REAS, professionaC truck drivers have been honored as among the safest
drivers on our highways, and many have received awards for extraordinary acts of
heroism and bravery for saving fe(Cow motorists from injury and death; and
ZVXEREAS, America's professionaC truck drivers are hard-working men and
women who serve the communities, schools and businesses of the Vnitecd States with
dedication and pride, and
ZV.XEREAS, the week of September 9 has been designated as .91rationa( Truck
Driver Appreciation Week in honor of these men and women for their outstanding
contributions to our nation's economic strength and viability,
WOW,, ILEUTO1 , 1, Kathy Coffey, Mayor of the City of Yakima and on
behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the week of September 9 through
September 15, 2018 as
"NATIONAL (MUCK DRIVER
A DPRECIATIOW WEEK"
and recognize the more than three mi(Cion men and women in America who deliver our
goods 6y truck.
