WI EREAs, seventeen years ago, more than 3,000 innocent victims Cost their
fives when a calm September morning was shattered by terrorists driven by hatred
and destruction; and
WIFEREAs, we wish to honor and pay tribute to all -who were affected by
this tragic event; including the men and women of Caw enforcement and fire and
emergency services who so gal -randy dedicate their fives to protect our society; and
WY -PERMS, on October 25, 2001 the `United States Congress passed Joint
Resolution 71 by a vote of 407-0, directing the President to designate September 11
of each year as "Patriot Day"; and
WIFEREAs, on the seventeenth anniversary of September 11, 2001, we join
with President Donald -Trump and Governor Jay Insfee and the entire nation in
remembering and honoring the memory of those who as President George W. Bush
said in his first Patriot Day proclamation, "... wiCCforever hold a cherishedplace in
our hearts and in the history of our Nation."
NOW, `I!fEREEORE, I, Kathy Coffey, Mayor of the City of (Yakima, and on
behalf of the (Yakima City Council- do hereby proclaim, Tuesday, September 11,
2018 as

in the City of Yakima and encourage a/Cgovernment entities, residents, and businesses to
join in this recognition and to participate in events pfannedfor that day and to observe a
moment of silence and prayer at 5:46 a.m. PST in remembrance of aCCthose who perished
on that fateful day.
