SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
At the June 5, 2018, Council Business meeting, Council approved adding a conversation of a
Sister City relationship between Hadong County, South Korea and the City of Yakima to a July
agenda and to include information from the Fair Board regarding this issue. Please see attached
memo from Greg Lybeck, Central Washington Fair Association Assistant General Manager.

SUBJECT: Hadong Sister City
The Central Washington Fair Association will be moving forward with the relationship with the
City of Hadong, South Korea, working to promote the Yakima Valley agricultural industry. In
this we would like to include one member of the Yakima City Council when the delegation from
Hadong travels to Yakima or when our delegation travels to South Korea. We would also like to
have city council participate with the student interns program we have established. Approximate
costs for a Sister City relationship between Yakima and Hadong County are outlined below.
Annual visit to Hadong, South Korea (City Council, CWSF and YVCC representatives)
Airfare for 1 council member:
Lodging: paid for by Hadong County
Meals: paid for by Hadong County
Travel in South Korea: paid for by Hadong County
Gifts for officials:
Annual visit to Yakima (CWSF and City Council representative)
Airfare: paid by Hadong County
Hotel: Central Washington State Fair and City split costs
Meals: Central Washington State Fair and City split costs
Travel in Yakima: Central Washington State Fair and City split cost
