A RESOLUTION declaring a 1991 Darley fire truck to be surplus to the needs of the City and
authorizing its sale to the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima (City) owns one used 1991 Darley fire truck (vehicle
identification number 1362C) for which the City and the Yakima Fire Department have no
immediate or foreseeable use and are surplus to the needs of the City and Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association has offered Five Thousand
Dollars ($5,000.00) for said fire truck; and
WHEREAS, the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association intends to sell the fire truck to the
City of Morelia, Mexico, in order to improve the emergency services that Morelia is able to offer
its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interest of the City to sell
said fire truck forthwith to the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association rather than sell the truck at
public auction of City surplus equipment at a later date, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned 1991 Darley fire truck (vehicle
identification number 1362C) to be surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and the Yakima
Fire Department, and the Assistant City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sell of said
fire truck to the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association for Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000 00) plus
tax.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 10th day of July, 2018.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City of Yakima is seeking approval of a resolution declaring a 1991 Darley fire truck as
surplus to the needs of both the Yakima Fire Department and the City of Yakima, and authorizing
the Assistant City Manager to direct its sale to the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association for
$5,000.00 plus tax. The fire truck will assist in improving the emergency services provided to
their citizens.
