Meeting Minutes of May 24, 2017
Call to Order
Vice -Chair Patricia Byers called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
Roll Call
YPC Members Present: Vice -Chair Patricia Byers, Bill Cook, Al Rose, Peter Marinace
YPC Members Absent: Chairman Scott Clark, Gavin Keefe, Jacob Liddicoat (all
excused)
Staff Present: Joseph Calhoun, Planning Manager; Lisa Maxey, Planning
Specialist, Sara Watkins, Senior Assistant City Attorney

Staff Announcements
Planning Manager Joseph Calhoun informed the Commission that he is finalizing the
documents for the Comprehensive Plan 2040 Update to take to City Council for
consideration of approval on June 6, 2017.

Approval of Meeting Minutes of Mqy 10 2017
A motion was made by Commissioner Rose and seconded by Commissioner Marinace to
approve the minutes of May 10, 2017. The motion carried unanimously.
Follow -Up Discussion on Sign Code Amendments Remand
Senior Assistant City Attorney Sara Watkins provided a memo to follow up on the
information that was requested by the Commission at the last meeting in regards to
trailered signs. Watkins explained that the average size is 4 feet by 8 feet, though the sign
manufacturers she spoke to seemed to indicate that there is a lack of demand for making
trailered signs. She included in the memo pictures of 3 trailered signs she found in
Yakima.
After discussion, the Commission had consensus to regulate trailered signs under the
portable signs section and to modify the portable sign language to allow signs to be 10
feet from the building or 10 feet from the driveway entrance, leaving the choice to the
business owner. Watkins specified that she will bring the proposed language to the next
meeting for the Commission to review.

A motion to adjourn to June 14, 2017 was passed with unanimous vote. This meeting
adjourned at 3:19 p.m.
