ITEM TITLE: An Ordinance Amending the 2010 Budget and Making an
Appropriation in the 462 — Transit Operating Fund for Extended
Services

SUMMARY EXPLANATION: Yakima Transit is providing additional transit - related
services from the corresponding revenue sources in 2010:
• In March 2010, Yakima Transit contracted and started additional fixed -route and
paratransit services for the City of Selah.
• In March 2010, Yakima Transit started a grant- funded demonstration project that
allows Yakima Transit to provide fixed -route and paratransit services one hour
later into the weekday evenings.
Some of these additional services were not originally contemplated in the 2010 budget,
therefore, an appropriation is needed to increase the budget. These programs also
have additional revenue sources. The attached appropriation is balanced with revenue
of $223,000 from a grant and interlocal agreement, to be spent on salaries and fuel
necessary to support the additional services.

BOARD /COMMISSION /COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: The City Transit Council
Committee has supported and been given periodic updates at their monthly meetings.
Yakima Transit has the support of the City Council Transit Committee for the above
services.
COUNCIL ACTION: •
• ORDINANCE NO. 2010
AN ORDINANCE amending the 2010 budget for the City of Yakima; and making
appropriations of $223,000 within the 462 - Transit Operating Fund
for expenditure during 2010 to provide additional fixed -route and
paratransit services.
WHEREAS, the amount of $223,000 must be appropriated within the 462 - Transit
Operating Fund for expenditure during 2010 to provide additional fixed -route and paratransit
services, and
WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 2010 budget it could not reasonably have
been foreseen that the appropriation provided for by this ordinance would be required; and the
City Council declares that an emergency exists of the type contemplated by RCW 35.33.091
and that it is in the best interests of the City to make the appropriation herein provided, now,
therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1: The amount of $223,000 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated
Fund Balance in the 462 - Transit Operating Fund to the following accounts as a 2010
appropriation:

Transit Services -Selah 462- 462 - 512 -0000- 33847 -SEL -- $65,000
Total Resources $223,000
Expenditures:
Salaries — Permanent 462- 462- 512 -T641- 54780 -111 -- $61,000
Salaries— Temporary 462-462-512-T641-54780-112 -- $100,000
Fuel 462- 462- 512 -T642- 54750 -320 -- $62,000
Total Expenditures $223,000
Section 2: This ordinance is one making an appropriation and shall take effect
immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City
Charter.
