Council Members Lover, Cousens and Alternate: A. Gutierrez
City Manager's Conference Room
September 29, 2016 @ 11 a.m.
Meeting called to order at 11:20 a.m.
Present: Council Members Lover and Alternate: A. Gutierrez
Absent: Council Member Cousens
Staff: City Clerk Claar Tee
1) The Committee reviewed the applicants noting there are six vacancies as one appointment is
for a Greenway representative. Chair Lover noted it is great to have so many qualified
candidates for these boards and committees and is appreciative of two former City Council
Members applying for the Bike/Ped Committee. However, he believes the Committee should
have only one former Council Member and with Neil McClure's background on the previous
bike/ped committee, he would recommend his appointment. By committee consensus, the
following candidates are recommended for appointment:
■ Carmela Solorzano, Community Review Board
• Stacy Hackenmueller, Parks & Recreation
• Elissa Southward, Bike/Ped
• Neil McClure, BikelPed
■ Shirley Strader, Bike/Ped
• Phil Matoon, Bike/Ped
• Michele McGinnis, Bike/Ped
• Susan Schoolcraft, Bike/Ped, Yakima Greenway Representative (as required by
policy)
For the last appointment to the Bike/Ped Committee, Chair Lover recommends Darrell
Patterson and Member A. Gutierrez recommends Ken Jones. It was Committee consensus
to have the bike/ped committee members, once appointed, do a straw poli to determine
term lengths.
2) It was Committee consensus to interview all applicants for the exploratory committees, and if
possible, have two different interview dates for each individual exploratory committee
applicants and a third interview date for those who applied for both committees.
3) Other business -- none.
4) The meeting adjourned at 11:40 a.m.
