prestigious .7figherEducation Excellence in Diversity NEED)Awardfrom I.WSIGWTInto Diversity magazine; and
WiFEWS, IN -Sipa Into Diversity is the oldest, largest and most respected diversity magazine and
website in higher education today; and
WiFEWS, The WEED Award recognizes corteges and universities that clearly demonstrate leadership and
an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion; and
WiFEWS, The WEED Award measures an institution's level of achievement and intensity of commitment
to broadening diversity and inclusion on campus through initiatives, programs and outreach, student recruitment,
retention and completion efforts, and hiring practices; and
`GW REAS, Central Washington'University, under the direction of Tresident James Gaudino, has made it a
priority to create a strong tradition as a diverse, student -centered university rich in ideas, in experiences and in speech
and that prides itself in building the lives, careers, learning and positive future of aft students; and
`GWftE.S, 'President James Gaudino believes that diversity of peoples, cultures, and ideas is essential to
learning, discovery, and creative expression; and
WiFEWS, CentralWashington'University's visionary administration, employees, and students have
worked in unison to become recognized national leaders in broadening diversity and inclusion on campus through
initiatives, programs, and outreach, student recruitment, retention and completion efforts, and hiring practices; and
WiFEWS, students of color comprise nearly one-third of Central Washington'University's student body,
with enrollment of.7fispanic students at more than 15 percent; and
`GWftEES, Central Washington'University is proud that approximately 92 percent of the students are
Washington residents; and
WiFEWS, CW J students and employees at CWV-Yakima, proudly co -located at Yakima valley College
in Yakima, Washington, have sign ant(y contributed to the achievement of this prestigious award, and

provide greater access to higher education, create local economic development opportunities, and build valuable
community educational opportunities.
