WHAT IS IT?
• A strategic plan is a document that describes a program's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and
outlines strategies and directions for a set period of time. It is a program planning tool that provides a blueprint
to strengthen program activities, address areas for improvement, and move the program forward to new
accomplishments.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention • Division of Adolescent and School Health
• The Plan will describe
• A vision for the City (strategic outcomes/results)
• Strategies for getting to the vision (multi-year)- we call them priority areas. If/Then
■ Action plan Programs/Activities (2 year priorities) that support strategies
OPTION: HOW TO UPDATE THE STRAT PLAN
• We use current council meetings and briefing to
address specific parts of the plan
• We schedule a Saturday for a potential retreat -
March 10 or March 17
