`G1 PERMS, Certified Registered 1Vurse Anesthetists (CVVAs) are essential to
America's healthcare system, providing high-quality, cost-effective anesthesia care for
more than 150 years, and who safely administer approximately 43 million anesthetics to
patients each year; and
`I4 PERMS, CVVAs are the primary providers of anesthesia care in rural-
America,
uralAmerica, enabling healthcare facilities in these medically underserved areas to offer
obstetrical, surgical, and trauma stabilization services and in some states, CVAs are
the sole providers in nearly 100% of the rural hospitals; and
`r4 PERMS, CVVAs practice in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered
traditional hospital surgical suites and obstetrical- delivery rooms, the offices of dentists,
podiatrists, ophthalmologists, andplastic surgeons, ambulatory surgical centers, V.S.
Uvlilitary and Public .Ifealth Services and Veterans Administration medical -facilities; and
`G1fE12EAS, nurse anesthetists have been the main provider of anesthesia care to
V.S. military personnel on the front lines since WW1, including current conflicts in the
.94iddle East with nurses being the first to provide anesthesia to wounded soldiers during
the civil war,
WOW TY EREFORE, 1, Kathy Coffey, Mayor of the City of Yakima, and on
behalf of the Yakima City Council, do hereby proclaim the weekof]anuary 21-27, 2018
as
"National CRJVA Week"
across the `united States and 1- urge all my feffow American citizens to join me in
recognizing these outstanding healthcare professionalsfor their contribution in adding to
the quality of fife in our country.
