This year's event went smoothly, folks had a good time, and the
music was excellent. Attendance was down, possibly because the
date was moved from June to August, and the Saturday of the event
9
fell on the last week of summer vacation for many families. There is
discussion of moving the date to early September.
Chalk Art Festival - October 14, 2017
This is the 3rd year of the event. It is a day where the entire community
is invited to come together through art. This is a non -admission, free
of charge event where skilled artists register for a spot to draw with
free pastels, and community members come down and enjoy the art,
draw themselves (chalk provided by DAY) and interact with the
artists. This year's theme was Dia de los Muertos.
This year we had a record 16 artists register. This was the first year
we had a People's Choice Award. Over 120 ballots were cast and the
winner received a prize.
This was also the first year we closed off the street and had a popcorn
vendor.
