Welcome and Introductions a. Arthur made a motion to approve the agenda. i. Anita seconded the motion. ii. Unanimous approval. b. Icebreakers — Rachel, Brandy, Anita, Arthur exchanged weekend plans 2. Approval of Minutes a. Arthur made a motion to approve meeting minutes. i. Brandy seconded the motion. ii. Unanimous approval. 3. Old Business a. Arthur debriefed group on prior meeting. We created an excel spreadsheet to input community integration pilot survey responses (Arthur, Rachel, & Tiffany). Arthur is still working on inputting his data. Brandy and Anita did not have surveys to input. b. Next up! Viva La Musica — Laura, Arthur, Brandy, Tiffany will attend on Sunday, 9/10/17. Arthur will bring copies of survey, clip boards & district maps. c. Discussed electronic surveys, but agreed to move forward with hard copy to eliminate communication barriers and for purposes of record retention. We agreed to keep focus on getting a community random sampling so limit or distinctly track Friends & Family responses on the excel document. d. Laura asked about Ethics and Equal Rights Committee's report. Dulce updated the group by saying it was a preliminary report, the NCBC committee had more questions for the group, so the committee has more work to do. e. Brainstorm session for final report in regards to recommendations for what the committee look like if it's proposed the community becomes permanent (i.e. term limit, attendance requirement, number of members, residents/non-residents, etc.). The committee will look on City of Yakima website under "Boards and Commissions" for examples of already established committees. Dulce reminded the group that the Council gets to decide, but the committee can make recommendations in the final report regarding our own unique parameters. Committee discussed ensuring application process is widely dispersed, not just newspaper or English media. They discussed adding Spanish media options, youth (ages 16-22), multiple languages, etc. Committee homework for 9/11 as follows: i. Bring an outline of priority qualifications for a future, permanent committee. ii. Make decisions on the format of final report. Arthur/Laura will give verbal report on 9/19 to Council. c. Committee will work to have draft of report 9/21 or 10/19 NCBC meeting. Committee will decide if we're ready to present after 9/11 meeting (let Dulce know, so she can add us to the agenda. Meeting materials would need to be given to Rosalinda for NCBC before 9/15. d.
