ITEM TITLE: Yakima Central Plaza third quarter fundraising 2017 update

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The memo attached to this agenda item includes a 3rd Quarter 2017 fundraising update for the
Yakima Central Plaza project. Members of Yakima Central Plaza Fundraising Committee will be
in attendance for a short presentation and available to answer questions from Council Members.

Subject: Yakima Central Plaza Third Quarter Fundraising 2017 Update
Fundraising Update
As of September 29, 2017, a total of $6,105,702 has been pledged for the Yakima Central Plaza
project by 155 community donors, businesses or family trusts. This is an increase of $731,909
in pledges from 70 donors since the June 20, 2017 update to the Yakima City Council. The
plaza committee and their fundraising consultant are working with a list of 200 community
donors and foundations to complete the goal of raising $9,000,000 in private funds by the
December 31, 2017 deadline.
Most new pledges have been submitted in the last three weeks and City staff is working on
converting the pledges into formal contracts with the donors. Of the pledged amount,
$5,416,563 is committed and under contract. Contracts have been issued to almost all of the
donors and staff is waiting for them to be returned with payment.
The City's plaza donation account currently has a balance of $900,090.71 from donors who
have submitted payments.
