b. Those who conduct surveys should tabulate their data in time for discussion at the
next meeting.
c. The committee discussed how to conduct interviews with organizations and local

i. Connect with businesses, vendors, organizations at the public events that
we're attending for surveying. We could give them the survey as well.
ii. Opportunity to find out what is already being done to improve community
integration
iii. Ask: What are you doing that is successful, and what isn't? Do you feel
people know about your organization?
iv. Brandy has offered to talk to Downtown Association and some City
employees
v. Information may be included in final report; will discuss further in September
d. Discussion on final report, direction of future committee
i. CIEC is hopeful that the survey, an opportunity to hear from Yakima
residents directly, will provide more insight for the final report.

iii. Propose structural changes to the committee (interview process, number of
committee members, etc.)
iv. Provide justification of staff time (budget) and prove that the CIC is not a
duplicate of another committee and that there is enough interest and need for
a new committee, or suggest how these tasks could be added to another
committee
v. Determine what the City's role is in CIC work. Could these tasks be better
addressed by Chamber, School District, a nonprofit, etc.?
vi. The CIEC still plans to present to the NCBC on September 21 regardless of
final presentation date in October. Sara will have CIEC added to the agenda.
