ITEM TITLE: Resolution authorizing Apple Valley Volkswagen Association to
hold an open cruising event to be held on September 16, 2017

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Apple Valley Volkswagen Association has requested approval to host an open to the
public Cruise Night on Saturday, September 16, 2017 on Yakima Avenue from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m.
The cruise will be part of the association's annual three day Volkswagen Rally and Campout to be
held in Moxee City Park on September 15-17, 2017. The organizer's have agreed to the
insurance and special event fee provisions as part of the City's Special Event Permit Process.

RESOLUTION NO. R -2017-
A RESOLUTION authorizing Apple Valley Volkswagen Association to hold an open
cruising event to be held on September 16, 2017.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima ("City") has previously adopted ordinances
regulating cruising events, codified at Chapter 9.25 YMC; and
WHEREAS, the Apple Valley Volkswagen Association has requested that it be
permitted to hold a cruising event on Yakima Avenue between 6th Street and 7th Avenue on
September 16, 2017 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., to be open to the
public and subject to the special event provisions of Chapter 9.70 YMC; and
WHEREAS, YMC 9.25.020 provides that the City Council may approve open cruise
events from time to time pursuant to an adopted Resolution, subject to applicable provisions
of Chapter 9.70 YMC pertaining to special events; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that approval of the proposed
open cruising events to be held on September 16, 2017, as described above, is in the best
interests of the residents of the City of Yakima and will promote the general health, safety
and welfare; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The open cruising event requested by the Apple Valley Volkswagen Association to
be held between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16th, 2016 on Yakima
Avenue between 6th Street and 7th Avenue, is hereby approved, subject to and conditioned
upon the applicant's compliance with all applicable provisions of Chapter 9.70 YMC
pertaining to special events.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 5th day of September, 2017.
