b. Best practices for conducting a survey
i. Giving context is important (elevator speech, mission statement)
ii. Survey may need approval from City Manager, Sara will talk to him for us.
Committee • not have any funds so we will need to check if we can just
iv. The group decided it would be best to conduct the survey electronically and
will need to borrow tablets for this survey. (SurveyGizmo, Survey Monkey,
Google Forms)

a. Schedule updates
i. The NCBC has requested that the CIEC gives a presentation during the
September 21 meeting as a dry run before the final presentation to City
Council in October. This meeting is scheduled for September 21 at 2:00p.m.
1. The committee would also like to invite the NCBC to regular
committee meetings prior to the 21 " to gather feedback with enough
time to make changes. Tiffany will send the meeting dates to Sara for
her to forward to the administrative assistant to the City Manager.
2. Inforrnation for their packet should be submitted to Rosalinda a few
days prior to the 21St
3. Sara will observe the Ethics and Equal Rights presentation to NCBC
this month and will update us on the expectations at our next meeting.
ii. September 6 at 5:30p.m. is now on the schedule as a regular committee
meeting.
b. Committee "Homework"
i. Review, approve and translate the community survey so it can be submitted
for approval ASAP.
1. The committee will discuss how and where to conduct this survey at
the next meeting.
ii. Take time to interview organizations and ask them the questions listed above.
These will be discussed at our next meeting.
iii. Think about what strategies for integration belong underneath each objective.

i. Conduct a pilot community survey and analyze data to make our case.
ii. Interview existing programs and organizations about community integration.
iii. List community integration strategies under each objective.
iv. Provide an outline of next steps, committee objectives, etc. for the permanent
committee.
