SUBMITTED BY: Chief Granato, Police Department CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: Capt. Jeff Schneider, 575-6151 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The Police Department has twelve used vehicles which are no longer fit for police service. All of these vehicles are in poor condition; some are wrecked or have bad engines. Police Department studies have shown maintenance costs for these older police vehicles are three times that than for newer vehicles. Continuing to operate and maintain any of these vehicles would be a significant cost for the Department as they are nearing major engine and/or transmission replacement. The Department requests that these vehicles be declared surplus, removed from our inventory, and sold or auctioned. Resolution X Ordinance Contract Other (Specify).
